Implants/Implant restorations

If you have a tooth that is missing or several teeth and you would like to replace it, Dr. Moskowitz can discuss options of placing an implant or implants and restoring it with a crown(s), bridge or dentures.
- Are dental implants painful? Most patients report minimal discomfort that is well-managed with medication, often feeling less pain than expected.
- How long do dental implants last? With good oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups, they can last a lifetime.
- Am I a good candidate? Almost anyone missing one or more teeth can be a candidate, provided they have sufficient bone density in the jaw. We can schedule a consultation with Dr. Moskowitz and he will discuss this further.
- What is the cost of implants? Costs vary based on the number of implants, the need for bone grafts, and location.
- Will insurance cover them? Coverage varies; while many plans do not fully cover implants, some may cover a portion.
- What is the recovery time? Initial healing takes a week or two, but full integration of the implant with the bone takes 3–6 months.
- What should I eat after surgery? Stick to soft foods like yogurt, soup, and mashed potatoes for the first few days, avoiding hot, crunchy, or chewy foods.
- Can my body reject the implant? While rare, failure can occur due to infection, lack of bone density, or poor hygiene.
- What are the benefits over bridges/dentures? Implants do not require reducing adjacent teeth (unlike bridges) and offer superior stability and, if used for dentures, eliminate the need for adhesives.
