If you have several missing teeth that are not healthy and have wondered if you could have a youthful smile again, contact our office for a consultation with Dr. Moskowitz. He will discuss several options with you including implant supported dentures that can sometimes be done in just a few appointments.
- What is a full mouth restoration? It is a series of treatments, such as extractions, bone grafting, and dental implants, combined to rebuild a healthy smile.
- Can extractions and implants be done on the same day? Yes. Through “immediate dental implants” or techniques like All-on-4, implants can often be placed immediately following extractions.
- How long does the entire process take? Most patients finish within 3 to 12 months. The timeline includes healing for extractions (7–14 days) and “osseointegration” (3–6 months), where the bone fuses to the implants.
- Is the surgery painful? Procedures are typically performed under local anesthesia, making the surgery itself painless.
Recovery & Aftercare
- What is the initial recovery like? Most swelling and tenderness peak in the first 48 hours and subside within a week. You can usually return to normal activities after a few days.
- What can I eat? A soft food diet (e.g., yogurt, mashed potatoes) is required for the first 24 hours, and sometimes for several months while the implants integrate.
- How do I clean my new teeth? You brush and floss them just like natural teeth. A water flosser may be recommended to remove debris from under the restoration.
- Will I be without teeth during healing? No. Most dentists provide temporary restorations or “immediate dentures” so you have functional teeth throughout the healing phase.
